Cash Drawer Buyers Guide Published: 1st Jan, 2010

1. Cash Drawer is connected to the Docket/receipt printer.

All cash drawers listed on our site, except the cashbox 420, are connected to and fired from a Receipt printer. This type of a connection looks like a telephone plug. This type of connection is the norm for most POS applications including MYOB retail manager, Quickbooks POS etc.

2. Cash Drawer is connected directly to the Computer.

For the cash box 420, which can be connected directly to a PC, we always recommend a serial connection be selected. This is due to the fact that 99% of POS applications handle the serial cash drawer rather than direct USB. In saying that however, a Serial to USB converter can be placed between cashbox 420 (serial connection) and the PC allowing the cash drawer to be fired from a USB port. We have the converters available for $20.
