LS2208 Barcode Support

Thank you for purchasing the Symbol LS2208 Handheld Long Range barcode scanner.

We have provided you with some excellent resources to help you when setting up your Symbol LS2208 Handheld Long Range barcode scanner.

The Symbol LS2208 USB is plug and play on all Windows Computers. However, with Apple Computers the scanner will be detected as a USB keyboard.  This is perfectly normal and the scanner will operate correctly.


Common Problems (Follow Each Solution, Slowly and Carefully)

1. My scanner does not have a Red Beam when I pull the trigger.

Disconnect the Scanner from USB port
Restart the Computer
Connect Scanner to a different USB port
The Scanner should install the Driver Software and beep when its ready to operate


2. My scanner does NOT beep when I scan a Barcode.
Disconnect the Scanner from USB port
Restart the Computer
Locate your Quick Setup Guide provided in the box
Scan the Reset Defaults Barcode. Ensure the scanner beeps.
Now Scan the HID KEYBOARD EMULATION Barcode. Ensure the scanner beeps.
The Scanner will now restart and will operate correctly.
Remember to try different angles and distances from the barcode to ensure the barcode is READ correctly.

3. My scanner beeps when I scan a Barcode BUT nothing appears on the Computer Screen?
Disconnect the Scanner from USB port
Restart the Computer
Locate your Quick Setup Guide provided in the box
Scan the Reset Defaults Barcode. Ensure the scanner beeps.
Now Scan the HID Keyboard Emulation Barcode. Ensure the scanner beeps.
The Scanner will now restart and will operate correctly

4. I need to hit the Enter Key after each barcode.  How do I setup my scanner to do this automatically?
Locate your Quick Setup Guide provided in the box
Scan the SCAN OPTIONS barcode.  Listen for a beep.
Scan the DATA SUFFIX barcode.  Listen for a beep.
Scan the ENTER barcode.  Listen for a beep.
The Scanner will now restart and will operate correctly

5. I think my Scanner is faulty.  How do I make a warranty claim?
Symbol/Motorola Australia handle all faulty products directly.
